The Nobel War Prize

January 14, 2010

Sorry to keep blabbering on and on about the Peace [& popularity] Prize. Permit me to post on it just one more time.

From the will of Alfred Nobel himself: the Peace Prize shall go to the person “who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.”

Cool!

Flash forward to the present day. El Presidente has requested over $700 billion for the DOD, $33 billion of which alone will go towards Iraq and Afghanistan, whose people, coincidentally, far from feeling affinity and love towards us, resent our presence.

I guess the only real difference between Obama’s foreign policy and Bush’s is that Obama has less trouble pronouncing words, albeit with a teleprompter.

The Salient was really was onto something last issue: If Obama can run our diplomacy like this, and get the prize, why couldn’t Bush get it as well?

Code Pink needs to step it up. Obama isn’t listening.
