Not All Economists Are Still Alive

December 16, 2009

Might I add, however, that there certainly is at least one Nobel Laureate that is (or was) no fan of central banks – F.A. Hayek, who, in fact, was awarded the Nobel specifically for his substantial contributions to Austrian business cycle theory, which places direct blame for business cycles on governments that meddle with interest rates and the supply of money.

He may no longer have the luxury of being alive, but the author of The Road to Serfdom and the Constitution of Liberty is by no means irrelevant.

Update 1: See illustrated version of Road to Serfdom here!
