Come home Gilad Shalit!
The Israelis have just released 20 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for a video of Gilad Shalit.
Gilad Shalit was kidnapped in Gaza in the summber of 2006, during the Second Lebanon War. He has been in captivity for 1,195 days and this is the first time that the Israelis have recieved a sign of life from him.
It comes as no surprise that Israel is freeing many Palestinian inmates just to get a glimpse of Shalit; Israelis have on occaion traded up to thousands for the release of one Israeli or even a body of a soldier.
The Jerusalem Post reports that the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) know where he is being held, but the Palestinians have wired the location with explosives and will kill him if the Israeli’s try to take him by force.
I have enormous respect for the IDF, not just because my entire famiyl serves there, and I have a plethora of IDF themed apparel, but because this is an army that gets things done.
They pulled of Entebbe and destroyed Sadam’s nuclear reactor in 198… to which Reagan said “boys will be boys” < 3 reagan.
