Mitch Daniels in WSJ

The Wall Street Journal has a great interview/profile piece today about Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels. A fascinating read that takes a closer look at someone rocketing up many people’s short list for the GOP candidate in 2012.

Maybe it’s just our shared Midwestern roots, but I can’t help but be a big fan of Daniels and the work he’s done. He’s maintained those all-important conservative values while approaching governance with a clear eye towards pragmatism. Perhaps most importantly, he doesn’t seek to alienate those who disagree with him just to prove a point. And he’s demonstrated a way forward for the Republican Party that’s focused on competence. All things we should keep in mind as the party continues to figure out its next steps.

    Very true … Daniels’ ability to marry increasing health insurance coverage with the free market ia an example of achieving socially beneficial goals without increasing spending. A more complete description of the Healthy Indiana plan is here:
